Twenty years ago, when I was doing mornings in Washington, DC, I met a comedian named Rob Becker, who had developed a one-man play called "Defending The Caveman." I saw him perform it at the Improv, invited him to guest on my show, and we became friends. I then watched happily as Rob took the show into bigger theaters around the country, and then to New York, where "Caveman" became the longest-running solo show in Broadway history.
Then Rob sold the rights to the show and let other people perform it, including Kevin Burke, who I saw perform it at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis about a dozen years ago. Kevin has now done "Caveman" more than anyone else — over 4,000 performances, including a long run in Vegas, where he was named Entertainer Of The Year several times.
